Y Mòd yn Gallaibh

Cafwyd y Mòd, gŵyl flynyddol Gaeleg a diwylliant yr Alban, yn Inbhir Theòrsa (Thurso) ac yn Inbhir Ùige (Wick) o’r 8fed i’r 16eg Hydre yn 2010. Dyna oedd y tro cyntaf ers i’r Mòd gychwyn yn 1892 i’r ŵyl o fri hon gymeryd lle yn Gallaibh (Caithness).

Yn ystod fy ymweliad i’r ŵyl synhwyrais dymuniad cryf y dylai’r ŵyl gymryd lle yno bob blwyddyn o hyn ymlaen, cymaint oedd ei heffaith mewn ardal y’i ystyriwyd ers amser hir yn barth gwbl di Aeleg.

Hoffwn i ddatgan fy niolchgarwdd diffuant i Tegwyn Williams, Llanelwy, am drefnu’r daith goets ar ran yr Ŵyl Ban Geltaidd yng Nghymru.

Cymerais i nifer o luniau yn ystod yr wythnos. Cewch ddod o hyd i’r rhan fwyaf ohonyn nhw drwy’r dolennau isod.

The Mòd in Caithness

The Mòd, the annual national festival of Scotland’s Gaelic language and culture, took place in Thurso (Inbhir Theòrsa) and Wick (Inbhir Ùige) from the 8th to the 16th of October 2010. It was the first time since the Mòd began in 1892 that this celebrated annual event had taken place in Caithness (Gallaibh).

During my visit to the festival I became aware of a strong wish that it should take place there every year from now on, such was its impact in an area long thought of as a Gaelic free zone.

I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Tegwyn Williams of St.Asaph for arranging the coach on behalf of the Pan Celtic Festival in Wales.

I took a number of photographs during the week. Most of them may be accessed through the links below.
